Playgrounds and Parks in Stockholm
Alexandra Beckwith rounds up some playgrounds and parks in Stockholm to explore with your kids.

With a third of the city being green spaces, Stockholm is perfect to explore with children. There are grassy parks and plenty of playgrounds around every corner.
Being a mother of two busy toddlers you will often find me, hot chocolate in hand, exploring the different playgrounds.
Over the last three years I have found a few of my absolute favourite playgrounds in the different areas of Stockholm.
Tantoulunden Park
If you head into Södermalm and make your way past Hornstull, following the water, you will find yourself in Tantolunden park.
This is a large park that has a little bit of everything for everyone; from leash-free dog parks to Frisbee golf, palm trees and a little stretch of sandy beach. There is even a newly renovated playground and what the Swedish call “parklek” which is a public outdoor playgroup where everyone is welcome.
Aspuddsparken
As you continue south, through Stockholm, you can island-hop your way to Aspuddsparken, just a five-minute walk from Aspudden T-bana.
This park is great for children of all ages. There are farm animals, a small cafe, a splash-pool and a playground as well as grassy space with room for picnics or a game of football. And if you do opt for a picnic there is a nice café, Bonne Femme, just opposite the t-bana entrance at Aspudden, that sells a good selection of take-away sandwiches and treats.
Humlegården
If you wind your way back into the city and into Östermalm you can stop to let the kids play while you relax in the park at Humlegården.
This park is a popular place for families to have picnics and let their children run around in the middle of the city. There is a nice playground with a “parklek” and plenty of beautiful trees and lush grass.
The Royal Library is also located in the middle of the park and it is just a short walk from the high-end shopping street Biblioteksgatan.
Uggleparken
On the other side of Stockholm, on the island of Kungsholmen, there are an abundance of playgrounds and parks.
A few of my favourites are Kronobergsparken and Rålambshovsparken but if you want something a little different and out of the ordinary, try Uggleparken.
Located just a short walk from Kristeneberg T-bana, this playground is aimed for the 5+ age group but there are still plenty of things for younger siblings to entertain themselves with.
Uggleparken translated directly means the Owl Park. It is filled with giant wooden owls, flowers and other animals for the children to climb and slide down from.
Mulle Meck

If you head a few minutes out of Stockholm into Solna you can find the innovative playground called Mulle Meck.
This playground has an amazing selection of play equipment; cars ready for little mechanics to work on, several different slides, a little tug boat with a working water pump, a mini maze, a flying-fox and during the summer months, a children’s library and café.
Although on the weekends there is very little available in the way of food or drinks so it is best to pack a picnic basket.
