Lola A. Åkerström rounds up some cool as well as offbeat Stockholm-themed Tumblrs.
Stockholm Streetstyle
A site filled with eye candy and some of Stockholm’s fashionistas, hippies, and style setters. Behind this Tumblr account of Stockholm is Swedish stylist and fashion blogger Caroline Blomst and her team who chronicle more about fashion on the site, Carolines Mode. While you don’t have to be a diehard fashionista to follow this Tumblr, you’ll definitely appreciate how it chronicles the city’s trends in an everyday snapshot style and will let you see what Stockholmers are wearing these days.
Open Book – Stockholm
Twice a month, a group of multitude of artists, cartoonists, iilustrators, and graffiti writers gather at local restaurants to drink beer and to create collective drawings. The concept, Open Book, fosters creativity in such a cool way. Each picture grows and develops organically as up to 30 people pass the drawings between them and add their own lines, colors, and shapes.
Not sure if this community is still super active, but it’s a wonderful concept.
Atelier Stockholm
The Swedish Academy of Realist Art runs a visually stunning Tumblr site with upcoming events, behind the scenes snapshots of art projects, exhibitions, student artwork, and a ton more.
I am Stockholm
Stock-like pictures and images from this Tumblr account of Stockholm as well as highlights from the book, “I am Stockholm” which is a photographic trip through some of the city’s streets and neighborhoods with Stockholm itself talking in the first person. The book was compiled by Lars Clason.
Hej, Hej, Stockholm
Forget that the heading says Hallo Berlin, but this Tumblr has wonderful images from Stockholm. Those everyday lifestyle shots that give you a glimpse into how Stockholmers typically spend their days and more importantly, their glorious summers. Just scroll down till you see start seeing the words “Hej, Hej Sthlm”.
Offacial
Swedish guys – both young and old (mostly younger ones though) – love their beards and this site is dedicated with the tagline “Putting the BE in BEARD since 2011” is dedicated to facial hair, tips and tricks, relevant beard-related events in town, and the bearded Stockholmer himself.
When You Really Live in Stockholm
According to Raquel Olivas over on Slow Travel Berlin, “This viral phenomenon may have started with Berlin, but after just a few days 15 other cities had their own version. There’s no secret to the success: simply combine generic GIFs with captions and situations that apply to your city.”
And Stockholm’s take on the concept is equally ingenius as well. Check it out below.
