Where to See Cherry Blossoms in Stockholm

Lola A. Åkerström spotlights the best place to see cherry blossoms in Stockholm.

Dating back to the Middle Ages, Kungsträdgården (“The King’s Garden”), which is one of the city’s most popular parks, is also home to the city’s biggest display of soft pink cherry blossoms.

At their peak bloom, the roofing of pink and white flowers over the entire park and its parallel boulevards is quite the sight to behold.

In 1998, sixty-three Japanese cherry trees were planted and each spring under the cherry blossom trees, people gather to soak up the warm sun, eat ice-cream, gossip, and play chess.

The cherry blossoms are expected to peak between mid to late April and Stockholm will celebrate Cherry Blossom Day late April, a festival organized in partnership with the Japanese government.
