Our List of Sites for Camping Near Stockholm

#1 Almost Anywhere You Want!

Sweden is one of the only places across the world where you can camp just about anywhere. For those who don’t know, there is a Swedish law called ‘Allemansrätt,’ which means ‘any person has the right to use the land.’ This open access gives everyone the freedom to roam across the country.

You’re legally allowed to wild camp anywhere (for a night or two) so long as it’s not too close to any residences and you “don’t disturb, don’t destroy.”

If there is potential for camping too close to someone, it’s best to ask permission, and it never hurts to be considerate of others.

So, this summer, make camping near Stockholm easier by embracing the surroundings around you. Pitch a tent in your backyard or venture into the woods.

#2 Tyresta National Park and Nature Reserve

Tyresta National Park and Nature Reserve is a good suggestion for a daylong excursion or an overnight stay. This doorway to nature is only 20 km from the center of Stockholm and lies on one of the most unspoiled areas of natural beauty in the city.

The beautiful park extends over 5,000 hectares, includes several lakes, historical buildings of cultural interest, and is home to a lot of plants and animal species. There is a huge coastline and enchanting forests.

The park is large enough for multiple day hikes and a dip in a warm, clear lake to end the fulfilling day.

However, camping in Tyresta National Park is allowed only at designated areas for one night at the time. Visitors have access to free wood for their campfires. (See website for further details)
